35th Anniversary Banner Brunch - May 10
Join us for a very special event--the 35th Anniversary Banner Brunch on May 10. Banner Brunch is the signature awards event for the Austin Chapter of the Association for Women in Communications (AWC), recognizing the most talented professional communicators in Austin, whose accomplishments have made a positive impact in the community and to the communications industry as a whole.
With a theme of “Leave Your Mark,” the 35th Anniversary event will bring together many of Austin’s foremost communications professionals and community leaders for a “homecoming” celebration highlighting the past, present and future of our organization.
The event will begin with entertainment by Austin singer and songwriter, Gina Chavez, a raffle and a silent auction featuring fabulous getaways, jewelry, spa packages, and date night packages from well-known businesses in Austin. Before brunch begins, capture the event by joining a friend for a pose at Banner Brunch’s first LIVE photo booth offered by Korey Howell Photography.
AWC is also proud to announce the morning’s keynote speaker, Cathy Bonner, founder of the Women’s Museum at Fair Park and Killcancer.org. You’ll be introduced to AWC’s outstanding communicators during the awards program and the event will be capped with a champagne toast. Please look for your invitation in the mail soon, printed courtesy of Offset Press.

June 2008 Luncheon: The Secrets of Emotional Triggers: How Emotions Affect Business Decisions
With more than 20 years of executive experience in Fortune 500 companies including Continental Airlines, ABC Television, Thomas Cooke and Wal Mart’s Sam’s Club division, author and marketing strategist Michelle Helin delivers an unvarnished truth in this compelling presentation: emotions really do affect business decisions. She is the creator of Emotional Trigger Research, a powerful technique that uncovers the core, unfiltered and spontaneous triggers that cause customers and audiences to act. These triggers reveal insights for crafting the strategic marketing solutions that transform organizations.

We encourage prospective members and guests to learn about our organization by joining our email list, attending events and volunteering. The benefits of membership in our chapter extend beyond access to a broad network of communicators: we develop leadership skills, connect people with jobs, learn from each other in the online listserve forum and foster mentor relationships.
